The textbook, prepared on the basis of the curriculum of the course “Law of Free Economic Zones”, examines the legal regulation of free economic zones (FEZs) as an instrument for attracting foreign investment. It covers the general features and legal status of FEZs, the historical trends and socio-economic reasons for their creation, public-private partnership, and the specific regimes of export zones, free ports, enterprise zones, free customs zones, offshore zones, technoparks and industrial zones. The authors analyse the registration and organisation of business entities in FEZs, sources of financing, governance bodies and forms of management, corporate governance in the FEZs of Uzbekistan, and the tax, customs and currency privileges granted to participants. Separate chapters address WTO requirements, the regulation of FEZs in CIS member states and within the Eurasian Economic Community, the creation of a favourable investment climate in Uzbekistan’s FEZs, investment agreements, and offshore zones. Recommended by the Ministry for master’s programmes in law.
