International Trade Law

The textbook presents both the theoretical and the practical aspects of international trade law. Drawing on current legislation, academic research and law-enforcement practice, it examines the essence of international trade and international trade law, the participants in foreign trade activity, Incoterms 2010, and the contract for the international sale of goods, including its form, registration, applicable law, the 1980 Vienna Convention and the UNIDROIT Principles. Further chapters cover franchising, international payments (bank transfer, letter of credit, collection, bills of exchange, cheques, factoring, financial leasing), security for the performance of obligations, documentation in international trade, and the resolution of disputes in international commercial arbitration, including recognition and enforcement of awards. The appendices reproduce international legal instruments and acts of international organisations, and the book contains assignments on each topic. Legislation is stated as of 1 October 2019. The textbook is intended for university students and practitioners engaged in foreign economic activity.
